Wolfram Data Drop
Roles: Product Design | Visual/Web Design | Project Management | Branding
The Project
Wolfram Data Drop is a public service to collect all types of data in Wolfram Databins, and turn it into intelligent visualizations with the Wolfram Language. The project took over a year from initial idea to published web application. The site is comprised of a landing/marketing page, administrative interfaces, usage guides, and user messaging. I took ownership of creating the Wolfram Data Drop brand, marketing website, application UI, and documentation.
Application Interface
The Wolfram Data Drop can be accessed in a number of ways. Below is the web interface for authenticated users that includes mechanisms to create new databins, edit metadata for existing databins, manage collaborators, upload or download data, view recent entries, and analyze the databin contents using Wolfram|Alpha.
Use Case: Recording Perosnal Data
One way data can be accumulated is through the deployment of a form with custom interpreter fields through the Wolfram Language. I created this one-page application to track chronic pain symptoms, emotions, and tie them to certain activities and pain levels. Submitting the form sends data points to a databin, which can then produce custom visual data interpretations.
Documentation
A service accessed through various Wolfram Cloud and Desktop programming products, the Wolfram Data Drop needed extensive documentation. This Quick Reference gets users through the basics of creating databins, adding data, editing preferences, and getting the most of out of their data.
